Overheard in the Wolfe House #24

Peggy: So how was school today for everybody?
Sam: uh-hm (still chewing, nods head)
Paige: Fine.
(pause)
Peggy: Well, I did my part. The parent handbook says to ask every day how school was.
Sam: Then you should ask how we like our classes.

  1. So funny!

My parenting guru said to ask specific questions.

Me: What was the most fun thing you did today?
    Frank: Nothing.
Me: What did you like best about school today?
    Frank: Nothing.
    Me: How was your lunch?
    Frank: No talking. Hold hands.

Wash, rinse, repeat until I learned that he needed to process his day. He usually wanted to talk right after waking me up several times because I had fallen asleep reading Cowboy Small for the 11,978 time.

Frank: Mom, you know what happened at school today?
    Me: Grunt?
    Frank: blah, blah, blah, blah...
    Me: No talking. Hold hands.

  2. Oh, that is so funny!

It just goes to show that the experts don't know a thing. Both Frank and Sam grew up to be wonderful young men.
